The compliance check¶
This page explains the sanctions screening every GRN.CLOUD customer passes through, why an order can be held for review, and what to send when the helpdesk asks for information.
EU sanctions regulations oblige a provider to know who it serves. To meet that obligation, every customer and every contact on a customer is screened. Sanctions screening describes how the screening works, who decides on a possible match, and how a decision is recorded.
What is screened, and against what¶

The list data comes from OpenSanctions. Matching runs on GRN.CLOUD's own infrastructure, so no customer data leaves the platform for the check.
What a possible match is¶
A possible match is one of two things:
- A customer or contact name that resembles the name of a listed person or company
- A company whose country falls under an EU sanctions programme
A possible match holds a new order until a person has reviewed it. You are informed by e-mail.
A possible match is often a false positive, especially for a short name. Matching compares names, and a short name resembles a listed name more often than a long one.
What to send the helpdesk¶
The reviewer may ask for:
- The company's registration extract
- The names of the company's beneficial owners
Send the documents to info@grn.cloud, as a reply to the e-mail about the check or as a new message. The order continues once the reviewer has cleared it.
What a confirmed match means¶
A confirmed match pauses the cloud account, in the same way as described on Paused accounts and restore: no pod can run, traffic to and from its projects is denied, its users cannot sign in, and its data is kept.
This pause has no deletion date. Services continue only after the check is completed. You are informed by e-mail.
Write to info@grn.cloud to complete the check. The account stays paused while it runs, and nothing is deleted.
