Paused accounts and restore

This page describes what happens to a cloud account when its last active order ends, what a paused account is, how to bring it back before it is deleted, and how to request a restore after it is deleted.

A cloud account holds your projects, the user accounts that sign in to them, and the quota they share. It exists because of an order, and it follows your orders: when the last active order is cancelled, closed or otherwise ends, the account is first paused and then deleted. Three numbers govern that sequence:

Interval What happens at the end of it
10 minutes after the last active order ends The account is paused
10 minutes after the account is paused The account is deleted, with its projects, data and user accounts
30 days after the account is deleted The last nightly backup of its projects is no longer kept

    Ended: Running, order ended
Active --> Ended: last active order ends
Ended --> Paused: after 10 minutes
Paused --> Active: new order or reactivated subscription
Paused --> Deleted: after 10 minutes
Deleted --> Restored: restore requested within 30 days

During the first 10 minutes nothing changes. The account keeps running exactly as before.

What paused means

A paused account keeps everything it holds and runs nothing:

Part of the account While paused
Workloads The quota of each project admits no pods, so no pod can run and the workloads are stopped
Network All traffic to and from the account's projects is denied
Sign-in The account's users cannot sign in
Data All data, volumes and configuration are kept

When the account is paused, you receive one e-mail that names the reason and links to these pages.

An account is also paused for an overdue invoice and after a confirmed match in the compliance check. Those pauses have no deletion date. The deletion on this page applies only when the orders have ended.

Bring a paused account back

Place a new order in the webshop, or reactivate the subscription that ended, before the account is deleted. The account returns within about an hour, exactly as it was when it was paused: the same projects, workloads, data and user accounts.

What deletion removes

Ten minutes after the pause, the account is deleted together with its projects, the data in them and its user accounts.

Deletion removes the projects, their data and the user accounts

After deletion, the only copy left is the nightly backup described below. Place a new order before those 10 minutes end if you want the account back as it was.

Request a restore after deletion

The platform keeps a nightly backup of every project for 30 days after the account is deleted. To request a restore, e-mail the helpdesk at info@grn.cloud.

A restore recreates the projects from the last nightly backup.
